The Two Sides (2007): Involuntary Suicide

Story
In everybody's lives, there is always, at least one thing that happens that we don't like. And we end up disappointed. "Involuntary suicide" revolves around this idea - the rejection of love.

The title came up after a person in my class said something about a "voluntary suicide". David told me that it was obvious, since there was no thing as an involuntary suicide. That gave me the idea, and I wrote the song.

In terms of music, this song was, perhaps, the most complex song of the entire album. It consisted in multiple instruments and effects, as well as a complete, changing lyrics structure.

Concept
After having died ("Nothing's Being Made"), our nameless protagonist has a new life, in which he gets disappointed by love, and thinks about suicide (unknown to him, this would be his second suicide). In the last second, he regrets his decision, but the move has already been made: he kills himself. After this, the death angel appears, and takes him to the Afterlife Court, in which he is judged. His sentence is, that in his next life, he becomes an insect.

Lyrics

Walking alone in the desert streets
wondering why she doesn't love me
I start to run to flee from her
and I only find myself, scared

I go to a bridge that's not completed
I'm decided to jump like a big eagle
and there's one moment when I want no more
but it is too late, I've already jumped

Ahh, I'm already gone
Ahh, it was all wrong
Ahh, but I had
Ahh, an involuntary suicide

I saw one man, the Death Angel
He ripped me from my body there
And they judged me, and now I'm here
watching the walls with a great fear

Ahh, I'm already gone
Ahh, it was all wrong
Ahh, but I had
Ahh, an involuntary suicide

And now everything's gone
And now everything's bad
It's all because an involuntary suicide

"Defend yourself" said the judge
"I can not, sir", I said no more
The death judgement made me wait
and then I was just an insect

Ahh, I'm already gone
Ahh, it was all wrong
Ahh, but I had
Ahh, an involuntary suicide

An involuntary suicide
