The 2 Sides (2012): Back In Time

Story
Originally titled, "Back In Time (I Wish)", this song had been around my head for some years. After I recorded "Slowdown", I wanted to explain the transition between the retired assassin and the depressed man from "Nothing's Being Made". I remembered this song, but I had only the lines, "I wish I was going back in time/I'm blowing like a hurricane." I wrote the rest of the song reflecting of how the retired assassin started to become insane, eventually leading to his suicidal in the next song.

I did two takes of this song. This was the first song in which I experimented with double vocals, eventually doing the same in other songs. Take 2 was the master, since I deemed the vocals of Take 1, "weak".

Of all the songs of the disc, if I were to release a single, it would be this song.

Concept
Our protagonist, now a retired assassin, is sleeping. He dreams that he's in the past, and he hopes to continue there. He then wakes up, and it's intrigued to realize that his life isn't what he wanted it to be.

He then says that he wants to go "back in time", to correct the mistakes he did, such as being a killer. While he alienates from the people, he now knows that his fear of becoming crazy (as the line, "But what will happen inside my mind?" from "Slowdown") has become real. He says, "I hope that this is over, I hope that I will die." He quickly gets fond of this idea, leading to "Nothing's Being Made".

Lyrics
Yeah!

I'm sensing a frequency
I'm stuck now in the past
I hope that you can find me
I'm hoping it will last

But then I wake up, after
It was just all a dream
I'm thinking it was under
a special phase of me, yeah

Yeah, yeah, yeah...
I wish I could go back then
and do differently
Erasing all those moments
of pain and agony

I wish that in the future
I could go back like that
And don't you call me crazy
I'm just a simple guy, yeah

One, two, three, four, now!

Aha, yeah, yeah, yeah...

I wish I was going back in time
I'm blowing like a hurricane
I wish I was going back in time
Don't stop me, don't stop me, don't stop me now, yeah!

One, two, three four
Intrigued by my memory
Of all my guilty past
I think I'm going crazy
I don't think I will last

I'm in a green, big city
But now I don't mind that
I hope that this is over
I hope that I will die, yeah

Now

Aha, yeah, yeah, yeah...

I wish I was going back in time
I'm blowing like a hurricane
I wish I was going back in time
Don't stop me, don't stop me, don't stop me now, yeah!

I wish I was going back in time
I'm blowing like a hurricane
I wish I was going back in time
Don't stop me, don't stop me, don't stop me now, yeah!

Don't stop me, don't stop me, don't stop me now, yeah!

Don't stop me, don't stop me, don't stop me now, yeah!
I wish, I wish, I wish, I wish
Don't stop me, I wish, don't stop me now, yeah!

Yeeeah, yeah
