Actually the first track I remade, "The Finale" was always one of my favorite songs from the original album. But people always told me that the original was "too loud". So I remade this song with an acoustic approach. When consulting David about this, he said, "it would be very cool."
I only made one take of this. A lost second take involved only removing some of the final lines, but in the end, the original take remained.
One thing I wanted to correct from the original, and I did, was to emphasize the "s" in the end of "the two sides" line. In the original, this "s" is mute. Also, a minor change was made: from "it wouldn't be long", to "this wouldn't last long".
Concept
After the word has ended ("Different"), and remembering all his lives ("Working song"), our protagonist, all alone, now wonders what to do. The only thing he can do, in the end, is to write a new song. A song of the finale, of the end of the world.
